Russias gay pride ban

In breaking news, a district court in Moscow has affirmed the city's decision to ban gay Pride marches until 2112.

LGBT activists have applied annually for permission to hold a march in the Russian capital. This year their application was met with the expected denial plus a 100-year ban. Their attempt to overturn the ban was defeated in court today.

Leading activist Nikolay Alekseyev has vowed to take an appeal to the Moscow City Court Presidium, and on the the European Court of Human Rights if necessary.

The Russian government is currently considering whether to adopt a regional law already operating in St Petersburg that makes the "promotion of homosexuality" a criminal offence.

Calling the Pride ban "a matter of grave concern", Stonewall's International Officer Jasmine O’Connor commented that "It’s another sign of the dire situation for  Russia’s 8.5 million lesbian, gay and bisexual people, whose human rights are routinely abused by the government and police".

The lesbian, gay and bisexual equality organisation promises to continue to push the British government to tackle human rights abuses around the world.

IT is disgusting right my comrades? Go here and read the comments http://rt.com/politics/moscow-city-court-gay-247/comments/
